A few members of VAST headed out to Stone Mountain, GA to join the SMASIS conference. Sriram Malladi presented his paper on Friday entitled- Sensorless control of SMA using Seebeck voltage.
The main banquet was held at the Atlanta Aquarium and it was amazing. SMASIS reserved the entire Aquarium and we had the privilege to tour the place after hours. Dinner was held in the main ballroom where there where there were two huge windows from which whale sharks, saw fish, beluga whales etc. could be observed while eating! Good job SMASIS.
A group of students, led by Bryan Joyce, is placing wireless sensors around the construction site of the new Signature Engineering Building (SEB). The aim is to perform output-only modal analysis in order to dynamically characterize the building. This will serve as preliminary data for a more robust testing strategy.
